WARSAW – Central Dispatch recieved a call at 12:27am on July 26, 2024 for a Teenager riding a dirt bike with no headlights or taillights. The Bike had arrived at the Cirkle K gas station at the cross of Lake Street and Hepler Drive, behind the bike was a white GMC pickup truck that was using it’s headlights to light up the roadway for the biker.

Two Warsaw Police units arrived at the Cirkle K at 12:30am, just as the suspects were getting ready to leave. Upon seeing the police cars, the driver of the dirt bike fleed the scene, initiating a pursuit. The GMC pickup fled the scene in the opposite direction.

After fleeing the scene, the dirt bike rider was successfully able to evade the police for a short time. Warsaw Police performed a traffic stop on the GMC pickup, and detained the two male occupants of the vehicle.

After Interrogating the two males on the whereabouts of the bike, officers performed a thorough search of the vehicle, but were not able to find anything of value to their investigation.

The GMC pickup was released from the scene at 1:15am, and officers began canvassing the area for the bike rider. According to the Clerk from Cirkle K, the dirt bike made a turn into the Melody Acres neighborhood, which went unseen by law enforcement due to the speed of the bike.

At 2:00am, just 90 minutes after police attempted to speak to the rider at the Cirkle K, Warsaw Police made contact with the Bike Rider on Rieder Street, just a few hundred feed from the original scene. A female was present on scene, believed to be the male rider’s mother or parental guardian. Warsaw Police chose not to arrest the rider, despite the apparent charge of Felony Evasion, but instead released him into the custody of the female.
